He hates how he can’t predict what others would do, so he isolates himself  as much as possible. It also means he doesn’t believe in giving, because it would go against his beliefs. He was made to be alone, and he thinks he’ll get more out of such a life. No matter what anyone says, less is less, and he hates being in the negative.

There’s something heart-wrenching about losing something, even if it was willingly lost. It’s a feeling he hates, so he keeps everything to himself, because that’s just the kind of person he is. He won’t give, not even to his own family, and before he knows it he’s crossed a line that should never be crossed.
