Picking Up the Pieces

He’s been picking up scraps here and there for so long that even his foot’s gone lame, and no one has cared enough to tell him to stop. But he’s the kind of long-suffering person who’s able to laugh it off and stay buoyed by the hope that can only be found in attempting the improbable.

Hope isn’t found without some sort of perceived suffering, and so when he’s led to paradise, he finds it isn’t everything he wants, because he knows at a glance that it’s something he can never keep.

He takes matters into his own hands, and for someone who only deals with leftovers, he doesn’t do too bad because he knows the secret on how to be happy.
