She’s never thought of herself as a puppet, because “obedience” and “blind faith” are two completely different things, especially when she knows the heart of the one giving the orders. The trouble comes when she can’t understand instructions; not the words, but the meaning and motivation behind them. Why should she sit and wait? Why should she be carried, when she has two feet of her own? Why should she let a stranger marry her when she has no intention of doing so?
So she stages her own rebellion, and runs away in victory.
