The Clerk

He knows everyone in the chapel by name, and everyone knows his. However, there’s only one he has eyes for; only one whom he wishes would know more than just his name, and the only reason he wishes he had more courage.

But he finds his wish is only granted at the worst of times: when he sees her standing in the middle of the chapel and calling for a lover he doesn’t know, he cries out to stop her from meeting him.

It’s only then that he realises his love is no different from a child’s, and that even he can be the most selfish person he knows.
