Irreplaceable

He’s one of the best at what he does, but even so he’s not a rich man. And as a scientist and a doctor, he can’t continue his practice without experimenting (because even a master needs to learn).

He’s a slave to knowledge, so his body isn’t his own. So he leaves it be no matter how poorly he feels, because science is all about being objective. He will look beyond what pain is and what suffering can become; look at them as numbers instead of something unscientific, and loses the part of himself that screams at injustice. He doesn’t need to know what it means to be human. He just needs to know the way the body should move, because that’s all he has room for in his mind’s world.
