Haste

There’s excitement pumping through his veins, and it urges him to get home faster, even though he’s not quite sure why. Perhaps the extra money he’s just earned puts his senses on high alert for hypothetical bandits and robbers, and he wants to feel ‘safe’ as soon as possible, or maybe he wants to show off his wealth to his family and boost his ego.

For whatever reason, he wants to be home by yesterday, and so he spurs his horse to run faster and faster.

There’s nothing quite like the wind in his hair until he realises he’s still connected to the ground, and even the smallest thing is able to slow him down to the point that he’s finally forced to pay attention and learn a lesson that can only be learned by the impatient.
