He’s kind enough to share a fire that isn’t his, and even though this old beggar woman is exactly like the rest (not in appearance but in presence), he stands with her and talks to her.

But when he sees a glowing ember land on the corner of her clothes, he stays silent out of a twisted sense of mercy, and wonders whether there’s anyone out there who would condemn him for what he hasn’t done.
