An Eye for an Eye

In his profession, it’s no mystery that everything is about the slight-of-hand and the ability to deceive his audience’s point of view. It’s his living, this kind of lying that doesn’t hurt anyone (except maybe their purses), and all of it was torn down by the words of a single girl. It only takes one non-believer to tear down any kind of magic or miracle; one person who’d rather think like an adult than a child, and he doesn’t know whether to pity her or to keep the pity for himself.

He settles for something in-between, and pays her back with the same gift he received.
