Design is not the same as fate. Because while he was born with wings, it doesn’t mean that he has to fly. So he sees the entire world as being greener than the grass he’s used to seeing, and persuades his friends to do the same. He will not conform to his design, and therefore draws his own plans.

It’s not the same as fighting fate, because for one, the outcome will always have a chance of turning for the better. Consequently, it’s no surprise when his friends are lost in a design that doesn’t belong to them, and he finds himself fighting against a tide that overtakes his foolishness before he can think about what he’s done.
