To all the readers out there: This is a short interlude to thank each one of you for every subscription, comment, like, and view. It’s been exactly a year since I embarked on the project to write a short piece of prose or poetry each day; pieces that are all based on a passage from the Bible. So I think that while this journey of reading the Bible within a year may have felt long, it didn’t feel like I was doing it alone, and I have my readers to thank for that.
So thank you and thank you, and don’t think this is the end, because I’m certainly not finished with writing just yet.
With the curves of a true lady,
She dips her bow in elegant curtsies.
Amidst the blue-stained waters,
She unfurls the splendour of a sunset gown.
The ocean envelops her curves
And calls her by name: Marilyn Ann, Marilyn Ann—
She scours his body for his voice
Pressed on by every wave, every rush of wind
Meandering her way around his contoured body.
Against the fast-creeping darkness:
White-blue wings stretched towards the silent sky,
Seamlessly connecting it to restless waters.
Tireless, she twirls again and again,
Like grey-misted seagulls
Flying towards the ground.
Upright with unyielding passion for one constant call, she flutters between partners.
They have used; abused her most endearingly, but without remorse—
She only remembers the gentle way she’s lulled to sleep,
So wears unrelenting scars with fearsome pride.
