Slip of the Mind

Don’t forget, he hears, and the foundation of the Law is laid.

He hopes he’ll never do anything that would warrant a remembrance of exactly what is right and what is wrong, but what he wishes isn’t the same as what happens. And what he thinks as kindness is actually justice, justice that he doesn’t fully understand but one that’s of a much different standard than the justice of the world.

He wonders how many times he’ll be sent outside the camp of security, and how many days it would take to burn the Law into the desires of his heart.
