Falling

It’s been a very long day, and even though the visiting teacher’s lesson is most interesting and thought-provoking, his body just isn’t willing to keep up with his brain.

Midnight nears, and the flickering of the candlelights in the breeze makes the room blink slowly, as if trying to lull him the same way his bed does. He’d thought a window seat would keep him awake, but it’s doing the opposite.

So as his mind sinks under the weight of dreams, his body responds by falling, even though there’s nothing to catch him except the ground below.
