Flesh and Bones

He fills up his flesh with suffering, so it crowds out his physical desires and weaknesses.  It’s a constant reminder of his status as a servant-slave, but he feels that as long as his heart isn’t on this earth, then his pride and indignation have no place with him either.

He trades his clothes for blankets, and hides himself within their folds like a child does to keep the darkness away.
