Apparently, most birds have to tip their head back in order to swallow

Apparently, most birds have to tip their head back in order to swallow because they don’t have the right tongue and throat muscles to do so, thus resort to using gravity instead. Being able to swallow like a human is called “peristalsis”, where muscles in the esophagus contract in a wave-like motion to force food down to the stomach. That’s why we can even drink or eat while doing a handstand. Go ahead; try it! Just make sure you have enough support while doing the handstand. Or just hang yourself upside-down, if you’re lacking in arm muscles. And you might need someone to help feed you. Of course, all that blood rushing to your head might not be a feeling you’ll be used to, so attempt this stunt at your own discretion.
