My friend commented on how she hated ice in her water, as it gets in the way of her drinking. Others have stated their inclination to eat it, saying that it gives their mouth something to do. I have even on occasion swallowed ice whole, just for the fun of it. But I think that ice is so much more useful than keeping cold drinks cold, or making room temperature beverages cold – it helps numb pain.
Yes, I am aware of the saying “No pain, no gain,” yet we still (in general) dislike pain. Just remember to wrap the ice in a cloth to prevent your skin from getting too cold!
